Peace in the heart of activity at Torre del Mar

Prepare to be amazed when you stay at the Torre del Mar hotel, a haven in Playa d'en Bossa.

When you stay at the Torre del Mar hotel, prepare to be frequently amazed. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Ibiza's most popular resort, Playa d'en Bossa; when you get here, you will see why guests want to return year on year, some just for the peace alone.

With a relatively recent overhaul, following a refurbishment in 2013, you will find a very modern hotel that has everything you might require.

There is a sweeping restaurant with amazing views of the sea, a brightly airy reception tiled with unusual Turkish grey and white striped marble, and so many fabulous outside areas that you could lose count.

You will also find some great decorative touches in this hotel. From the light feature next to reception to the fine detail of the quirky looking balustrades near the conference centre. The small replica of a pirate tower that sits at the centre of the swimming pool is perhaps the best example of this.

This is a family-run hotel, and it shows. The staff is super-friendly and all they seem to want is to make sure your holiday goes smoothly. How often does that happen?

I stayed in one of the Superior rooms, one of several room types, which includes Standard, Superior, Duplex, and Junior Suite. We were lucky to see them all.

My room was very comfortable with nice big beds, a bright and well-fitted-out bathroom with all sorts of complementary products, a mini bar and an amazing view of the sea from my balcony, with old town Ibiza rising up to the left.

Going to see the suites was great as we got to see how different tastes and budgets would be catered for. The duplex rooms are gorgeous, have a staircase, leather sofas and more luxury. They are popular with the ladies it transpires because they have a Jacuzzi outside, a big bathtub inside and lots of room for in-hotel pampering.

These more upscale rooms have a bottle of champagne on ice waiting your arrival as well as the lovely extras like bathrobes and slippers, pool towels, all sorts of grooming kits and much more,

Many food choices

Sa Punta, the hotel's a la carte option is the ideal expression of an al fresco Mediterranean restaurant. I had the freshest prawns ever and was even shown how to eat them Spanish style, heads and all. To finish was a local pudding, a hand made flaò topped with the local liquor, hierbas. Mmmm!

The facade of the hotel is largely pointed at the sea, unlike most of the hotel's close neighbours. This means that most rooms will get a terrific view of the surrounding waters.

You could possibly live in the hotel's outside areas pretty much. There is an artificial beach called ‘La Plage', the upscale restaurant, an outside bar, that great pool area and the new Excellence Terrace which offers up a big expanse of Balinese beds and stylish sun loungers.

Live music can be had throughout the season and there are a lot of special events too. In August, the fireworks displays in Ibiza Town and Playa d'en Bossa can be viewed from the hotel in comfort and with a drink in hand.

The waters outside the hotel are transparent and inviting; you could spend hours gazing at them and indeed I did. It gets really animated in summer on the sea here, when lots of white boats of all sizes and shapes can be seen going past or bobbing on the sea's surface.

This is one of Ibiza's lovliest hotels. It's friendly, really comfortable and has all the luxury touches that a person would ever need.

You really do need to go and see for yourself, which we would exhort you to do, because this hotel really is something quite special.
