Things to do this month on Ibiza - Easter 2017 special

Our suggestions for your Easter break this April 2017 with sun, beach fun, clubs, festivals and much more.

April is a special month on Ibiza. The sun is shining, the sea is warming up nicely and the island exudes excitement for the summer ahead. Easter is a big deal here and there will be celebrations and long, lively lunches in the traditional restaurants which have already opened their doors for the season. Throw some clubbing action into the mix and you have the makings of a perfect Easter break.

Easter parades

Ibiza celebrates the traditions of Easter in an extravagant religious display. Processions take place in the main towns on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Locals dress up as Nazarenes and carry statues through the streets. On Easter Sunday, Ibizan families descend on the restaurants in huge groups that span the generations. The atmosphere is bustling so it is well worth booking yourself in to share the experience.

Beaches never close

Head to Figueretas and Talamanca beaches every Saturday and Sunday until 21 May between 10.00 and 13.30 to enjoy free sports and creative activities. There is a wide range of pursuits to choose from. Take to the sea in a kayak or a stand up paddle board or pound the sand in a game of volley ball or rugby. Try a jewellery-making workshop or take up kick-boxing. It's all free so give it a try.

Party through the night at Pikes

Pikes is a quirky and naughty Ibiza institution and the opening on 29 April is an event not to be missed. Start with cocktails by the pool then sample the new menu in Room 39. After dinner the madness begins. DJ sets from Melon Bomb, Artwork, Brothers Grim and more keep the party going all night long. Be sure to experience Sunny's legendary bathtub karaoke. Once tried, never forgotten.

An island institution since 1985, the Sant Pepe rock concert takes place on Saturday 15 April at the parking of Cas Vildu in San José. With performances from Güru, Azrael and Obus, expect the rock to be heavy and the crowd to be boisterous in their appreciation. It is the ideal event for the headbangers out there.

A new event for ibiza, Costa del Folk, will take place at the Sirenis Seaview Country Club in Port des Torrent from 25 April - 1 May. With 18 acts it looks set to be a great bash. Headliners include Midge Ure, former lead singer of 80s band Ultravox and Tom Robinson of ‘Glad to be gay' and ‘2-4-6-8 Motorway' fame. The festival is to be compered by comedian Mike Harding so should be a lot of fun.
