Ibiza Beach of the Week: Cala Conta

Two beaches, restaurants, spectacular sunsets and DJ's playing live - Cala Conta is a fond favourite!

This week, we stay on the west coast of Ibiza to take a look at the small and rugged beach of Cala Comte, or Cala Conta.

Accessible by car, bus, or even by ferry from San Antonio during the summer season, Cala Conta consists of two stretches of sandy beach backed by rocky terrain and sand dunes, with a more private third cove to be found at the far end, which is popular with nudists.

The rocks here provide the perfect spot for diving and snorkelling, and the beach's shallow, sparkling turquoise water guarantees safe bathing…Cala Conta was, in fact, one of the fifteen beaches on Ibiza to be awarded a prestigious Blue Flag in 2010.

You can enjoy fabulous views of the small islands of S'Espartar, Illa des Bosc and Sa Conillera dotted around the coastline and, of course, being on the west coast of Ibiza, the sunsets are spectacular.

There is access for the disabled, toilets and showers, and sun loungers and parasols are, of course, available to hire.

With a few excellent bars and restaurants both on the beach and within walking distance in the surrounding vicinity, Cala Conta is another of Ibiza's most popular beaches and, as always, we advise you to arrive early if you are taking your car, or alternatively go along in the early evening and listen to the DJs in the restaurants playing their sounds to a spectacular sunset.
