Ibiza town takes its turn to celebrate next month when it rolls two public holidays into one

Ibiza town takes its turn to celebrate next month when it rolls two public holidays into one courtesy of its Earth Festival. Santa Maria on 5th August and San Cyriac on the 8th are sandwiched in a programme of entertainment that this year has a budget of €114,000.

6th 22.00 Concert by the Ibiza Symphony Orchestra in the Reina Sofia Park
7th 22.00 Concert by Ressonadors in the Reina Sofia Park
8th 10.30 Concert by The City of Ibiza Orchestra in the Cathedral Square
8th 20.00 Free Paella (enough for 3000) in Puig des Molins
8th 24.00 Fireworks display at Ibiza Marina
9th 22.00 Classical Music concert at the Baluard Sant Pere. €10 entry
12th 22.00 Night of Opera in the Town Hall Cloister. €20 entry
16th 24.00 Fireworks display in Figueretes.
16th 21.00 Concert with Horacio de Tomaso in the Baluard Sant Pere
23rd 21.00 Concert with Es Toc Acustic in the Baluard Sant Pere

In addition there are lots of sporting activities – swimming, cycling, beach volley and clay pigeon shooting – to name just a few, exhibitions and of course to round it all off the Ibiza Jazz Festival from 25th to 29th.
Sounds like we're in for a busy month.


Plaza Reina Sofía: Square below the city wall, left of the upper end of the Vara de Rey at the beginning of the street Juan Xico. See map

Baluard Sant Pere: Bastion on the northwest corner of the city wall of Ibiza Town. Enter the walled old town Dalt Vila through the main city gate (Portal de las Tablas), pass the square Plaza de la Villa and go straight ahead up to the little square Plaza del Sol with the entrance to the bastion. Or enter Dalt Vila through the pedestrian city gate left on the Plaza Reina Sofía (see above), this leads directly to the Plaza del Sol. See map

Vara de Rey: Main street in the centre of Ibiza Town with a tree-lined square in the middle. See map

Recinto Ferial: The white exhibition hall of Ibiza Town next to the main road to the airport, on the exit to San Antonio (take the exit to San Antonio/Eivissa and in the roundabout the exit to Eivissa, the exibition hall is right next to you on the right side).
