Top 5: Tracks for August 2009

Stella Mac is back!! A completely subjective look on which 5 tracks I have been shaking my booty to (a bit too much actually) during the month of August.

So quite simply what Miss Macabich has been feeling in the last few weeks and NO, I'm not revealing where i've been in the last few weeks....AWOL is only the start of it.

By the way La Mezlca doesn't count because it was and always will be a 2008 Ibiza tune for those who count.

5. La Roux - In for the Kill (some weird bootleg or other mix!!)

The buzz: Played by everyone from the Cream trance jocks through to the electro mafia to Fatboy Slim and even Defected at Pacha. Just one of the vocals that makes you sing along.

4. Plastikman - Spastik

Label: Novamute (c.1993!!)

The buzz: Some tracks just don't need an introduction. Some tracks are just timeless dance music royalty that will be being played long after Oakenfold finally evolves into a human and Sven gets tired of partying. Richie Hawtin's seminal drum machine pioneering still rocks like a bitch and you can hear that rather than the Dubfire rework, which is being played in bits and pieces by all and sundry (from Tobi Neumann to Seb Leger and also Erick Morillo, who has been caning this in his sets for 15 years now). I dare you not to dance.

3. Santos - Hold Home

Label: Moon Harbour

The buzz: Pure Luciano track that utterly typifies the jerkin funk of his sets and the vibe on the Cocoon terrace in 2009. The moustachioed one usually throws in M83's 'In Church' organ vibes over the top of it. Dancetastic!!

2. Sebo K & Metro - Saxtrack (Reboot Twisted Funk Remix)

Label: Cécille Numbers

The buzz: Picks up where 'Hold Home' left off with some real good times, happy, smiling dance music that doesn't require anything other than a good attitude to enjoy it. Bora Bora, Sunset Terrace, Cocoon, Ushuaïa, Pacha.....take your pick. It's getting rinsed everywhere.

1. Reboot - Caminando / Pra Dizer

Label: Sei Es Drum

The buzz: Out of the La Mezcla mould so already at a disadvantage, but Reboot can do no wrong at the moment and the Cadenza maestro has produced another bomb that pulls at the heart strings and causes instant sunshine happy memories as the vocal develops. Enjoy it while it lasts, no doubt Tiesto/Guetta (delete as appropriate) will have their hands on it soon.
