Cream Opening Review

They arrived by the busload, they saw Prydz and the trance dons rock till dawn and this was just the opening!

Thursdays in Ibiza have pretty much always been about one thing, Cream. The iconic and enduring brand of our clubbing youth, few clubs ever come close to the inspiring mix of power dance music from the best jocks in the world to the backdrop of Amnesia's hallowed finca walls. It is a recipe that meant Cream even outdid Cocoon this year for their respective opening parties.

The undoubted headliner was semi-Mafia Swede, Eric Prydz, who put his well documented fear of flying behind him to begin his exclusive mini-residency with Cream this summer. A bit more knob twiddling and the set could have almost passed for a live performance with Prydz productions a plenty, whether himself, Pryda or Cirez D. Huge reactions to Armed and Europa before Pjanoo broke a couple of windows in the Amnesia terrace roof.

In the main room, it was pure energy as always with Ferry Corsten and Sander Van Doorn ensuring it was bruised dancing feet only that left the dance floor gone 7am. Both Dutch trancemeisters return on June 25th, before German God of Trance, Paul Van Dyk continues his Cream Ibiza journey with another residency commences on July 2nd. Meanwhile, on the terrace Sasha begins where he left off in 2008 with his first Cream dates of the summer on 25th June and 2nd July.

The island is rife with crisis talk, but the negativity is slowly being crushed by that same Amnesia vibe of 87 that inspired our whole scene and which Cream has been reliving with thousands of dedicated clubbers every Thursday in Ibiza. See you under the ice cannon!
