Ibiza 2016 season news roundup FOUR

What's breaking from week four you implore...

How many of you have already bent your plastic cards out of shape and booked a one way or return ticket to visit us? You might be holding back, waiting for particular confirmation of a specific selector unleashing his ammo with a new residency, or seeking out a flawless line-up that seemed possible only in a utopian world. Could that news be in this week's roundup of opening dates, returning residencies and other tit-bits? Do dig in.

1. Privilege Opening Party

The world's biggest superclub awakens on Friday 27th May, maintaining the same monthly position it's held for years. Other than the date, information is thin on the ground, but we can weigh in with a little speculation from going through previous opening parties and seeing a pattern of big main room artists holding down the belly of the club with a massive stage show, and the Vista Club collecting more of the underground flavour.

2. Flower Power at Pacha

Pacha will be glowing with symbols of unity as the peace signs return for Flower Power in 2016. This residency is always about celebration, with a particular vibe and sentiment you simply can't find elsewhere, but this year it's feeling particularly special. The Mamas and The Papas record Monday, Monday is fifty this year, so what better way to honor their craft than to give the Monday slot to the flower weavers. Running from 30th May through to 26th September, its arriving with a full new show every week and for the first time in its history, international artists will join orginal Pacha jock DJ Piti and Victor Nebot.

3. Hardwell Ushuaïa residency

The Dutch dominator is Ibiza bound with the return of his residency at Ushuaïa for the 2016 season. Retaking the Tuesday slot from 28th June and running for 10 weeks until his closing party on 6th September, he'll no doubt exhibit exactly why he's held in high esteem within the EDM scene.

4. Amnesia opening date change

If you were asked if you though this was coming, you'd have said absolutely not. We already thought we knew when Amnesia would be roused for 2016, but its brought its date forward by two weeks, putting it now at 14th May. The original weekend it had planned is the heavy one, with most of the club's rising from their dormancy, so it chose to give itself some breathing space and extend the season by a couple of weeks. There might be grumbles of it being an inconvenience, but it's been promised than the quality of line-up is going to surpass your expectations and make up for any trouble caused.

5. Captured Festival line-up

Trance heads are fed a healthy portion of euphoria at Captured Festival as it takes over Benimussa Park. Seized for a sizeable session from 4.30pm at the abandoned zoo on Sunday 11th September, the line-up has been released with John O'Callaghan, Bryan Kearney, Menno de Jong, Will Atkinson, Andy Farley and The Thrillseekers being a handful of artists make the grade.

6. Cocoon opening on sale

It first arrived to Ibiza in 1999 and since then, Sven Väth has seen it grow to become a Balearic beast that finds thousands of fresh techno victims every year. As you can imagine, its opening party is pretty special and tickets for this date on Monday 30th May are already on sale at a rather tasty price of 41€.

8. IMS first speakers and artists

Details of the 9th edition the industry leading conference are finding their way to us with 20 artists and 20 industry speakers being confirmed. In there we've got a rare appearance by the Pet Shop Boys, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler and B.Traits. For the panelist speakers, we'll be hearing about the future of dance music culture from representatives of Crowdmix, Space, Warner, Ushuaïa, AFEM, R&S Records, BMI, Tracksource. Many more still to be announced for the three day event at Hard Rock Hotel, from Wednesday 25th May until Friday 27th May.

9. Pacha 67 Sailboat party

Pacha's official boat party needs a place in your to do list. We're well aware that an Ibiza holiday doesn't come cheap, so this deal is a good ‘un with the boat party package including entry to Pacha from a choice of three nights. Every Tuesday and Wednesday by day, explore Ibiza and Formentera on the Turkish Schooner which is a proper sailboat for the ultimate nautical experience, and by night you can use your free entry on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of the same week. You just need to decide between Maceo Plex, Martin Solveig and David Guetta.

10. Elrow at Space

If you know Elrow, you've probably described it as being utter mayhem. It's adult nonsense at its very best with inflatables crashing down from the roof and just about every circus trick being present. The tech house party is back at Space every Saturday for the club's final year from 4th June to 24th September. Elrow defines the word celebration and so in homage to Space's last dance, it's promising to be epic and unforgettable. Those two words are already stamped all over it, so let's see it surpass itself with its outlandish themes and DJ heavies.
