Season preview: Ibiza Spotlight's 2014 season preview

Ibiza 2014 we embrace you! Prepare for a long, but essential read.

We've just survived the 2014 Ibiza opening party weekend and the seventh edition of the International Music Summit and are now heading straight into another crazy summer season. We've deliberately waited until now to release our season preview, so it has ALL the latest information, including what has come out only in the last few days. Now, let's have a look at what's in store for us and you this summer on clubland Ibiza. Plus, as always, a personal forecast on how I think the summer will pan out.

Main venues A - Z

AMNESIA | San Rafael

You could call team Amnesia boring for changing hardly anything, but the simple fact is the number one San Raf club has had a very consistent, but at the same time varied enough weekly program for the last few years - so why change too much? The Amnesia week starts with Cocoon and we predict a very good summer for Papa Sven and his family. The cocooneros are celebrating a staggering 15 years on the island, 15 years of love, but also 15:0 compared to all the other Ibicenco tech nights: Luciano is coming home to his Ibiza Origins, Sven Väth is of course there for most of Mondays and has been in brilliant form lately. Plus, the Cocoon guest roster is a fine handpicked selection and it is one of the few parties on the island all the DJs get to play a 3 hour set as a standard - not just the main man himself. Way to go. Ah, and let's not forget about those infamous afterparties of course!

Together is back on Tuesdays - and with their strongest line-ups yet. Having Chase & Status as weekly residents in the main room and a very varied terrace programmation with guests reaching from Skrillex to Eats Everything is the way forward it seems. Then on Wednesdays La Troya will be on the Terrace, while the Main Room belongs to the foam party...and yes you've guessed it, to Paris Hilton for a few weeks again in high season. Her DJ skills might be questionable, but check out some of James Chapman's fantastic shots from last year and you can imagine why many people will be attending that night regardless.

More anniversary celebrations at Amnesia on Thursdays: Cream are celebrating 20 years of Ibiza existence and they are celebrating it in big style. The line-ups of this Ibiza institution are as strong as ever. Championing the trancier sounds in the main room with Paul Van Dyk and Above & Beyond rotating on headliner duties and the big room house heroes Calvin Harris, Steve Angello and Laidback Luke on the terrace, Thursdays at Amnesia are going to be a roadblock this summer too. Let's not forget about those special dates with Eric Prydz (on the birthday party date - 31st of July) and master twitterbeefer Deadmau5 (28th August).

The Amnesia weekend starts with Marco Carola's Music On. Signor Carola is of course headlining the terrace each Friday, with guest appearances from Guti, tINI and Jamie Jones just to name a few. The main room is Joseph Capriati's realm for half of the dates and he'll be joined by Chris Liebing, Monika Kruse, Pan-Pot, Miss Kittin and more. It's the third season for Carola and his amici and you can expect the Music to be On until some time Saturday morning week after week, with afters often to follow once someone eventually cuts the power at Amnesia.

Saturday night is all about Matinée, their muscles, their shows and generally a proper good vibes party. Popular with the Spanish and with the very international gay community, this night is still a pillar of the Ibiza nightlife scene.

Not everything is the same as last year at Amnesia though. Popstars on Sundays is no more (and neither the second foam party night), and instead of this, Amnesia comes up with a new night called 'Amnesia presents'. The main room will be a pretty trancey affair with Markus Schulz headlining the main room every week and guest appearances by Omnia, Paul Oakenfold and Cosmic Gate. On the terrace, it'll be a mixture of house and EDM; Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are the main protagonists and guests reach from Chuckie to Steve Angello, Martin Garrix and Fatboy Slim.

BOOOM! IBIZA | Ibiza Town

A lot of gossip has been said and written about the venue over the winter months and it's been fairly amusing to be honest, but while some predicted death to the club, we prefer to focus on facts. It seems Booom! Ibiza could solve their legal problems and are thus back for their second season. So far, three weekly nights have been confirmed, but there will be more - rest assured we'll let you know as soon as we get green lights to reveal it all...

Defected were the first ones announcing they'll be back In The House at Booom and moved their prime night to Tuesdays. Their opening party was an extremely strong one and the line-ups for their summer are very tasty. But Defected doesn't leave it with just one night and present a second night at the same venue: Glitterbox on Saturdays. With a more discoey feel, but a similarly good line up, it's going to be really interesting to see how this will perform. One of the labels of the moment, Suara, lands its very first Ibiza residency on Wednesdays. Main cat Coyu is playing all of the dates and the likes of Nick Curly, Kenny Larkin, Tube & Berger and Gary Beck will be on strayer (guest) duties. Meow!

DC-10 | Salinas Area

The infamous DC-10 on the road to Salinas sticks to its tried and tested fomula: Circoloco on Mondays - still one of the defining underground parties on the island with an impressive talent roster week in week out, and Jamie Jones' Paradise on Wednesdays. The latter night, this year called 'A Tribe Called Paradise', has actually caught up to Circoloco in terms of artist selection, a few of their nights over the season (especially the five dates when both the terrace and the main room are open) boast a brilliant line-up. Apart from those two nights, expect label one-offs to be added for the August Saturday nights too (Better Lost Than Stupid, Innervisions' Lost In A Moment etc).

ES PARADIS | San Antonio

While their neighbour Eden turned into Gatecrasher Ibiza over the winter, the second San Antonio venue simply continues as the beautiful Es Paradis it always was. Their week starts with Phat Mondays. Starting in Eden back in 2012, the urban night now makes its Ibiza return. Then there are again two water parties, but both of them are a bit special this year: the one on Tuesdays is the 80s and 90s sounds infused Fiesta Del Agua as per last year, while the 2014 Friday water party is in conjunction with Judge Jules' Judgement Fridays. Ibiza virgins, no matter which day of those two you choose, it is one of the parties you have to do once! The official Ibiza Rocks after party is on Wednesday nights as always, right after the gigs end at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Thursdays are yet to be confirmed, currently it looks as though as Es Paradis will have a night off on that night. Then Hed Kandi sticks to its Saturday night slot and I'm pretty sure it will keep on being Es Paradis' busiest night for this summer too. Ibiza's first neon paint party Glow is on Sundays again and believe it or not, it's a night that's doing really well! Last but not least let's not forget about the Clockwork Orange 20th Ibiza Anniversary Party on Friday 25th July - we expect a big contingent of old skool ravers to fly in for this one - probably one of the most unique nights of the whole summer!

BENIMUSSA PARK (aka GALA NIGHT) | Benimussa / San Antonio

The home of the Zoo Project parties has changed its name for this summer and is now called Benimussa Park. The opening party this week was very busy and a promising one for the 2014 'zoo' season. The main event at Benimussa Park is of course still the beautifully animalistic The Zoo Project on Saturdays. Apart from that, this year there will be four Holi Festivals of Colours happening once a month from June to September - this is gonna be very interesting! Plus, Channel Zoo will also be back for a total of 6 Wednesdays in July and August.

Moreover, the team behind the Driftwood trance boat parties is also throwing two one-offs at Benimussa Park, the Captured Island of Trance Festival at the start of September (announcement with line-ups and ticket info to follow soon) and its warm-up on 17th June. There are rumours around about other promoters doing parties at the venue as well, but let's see if those come to pass.

GATECRASHER IBIZA | San Antonio

The new kid on the block, at least on Ibiza. Having had a very successful opening party just last night, Gatecrasher Ibiza is now officially launched. Taking over from where the new Dutch Eden owners left after the big refurbishment last year, Gatecrasher Ibiza presents a weekly programme that had raised a few eyebrows at first. Instead of putting up a trance-heavy line up, GC IBZ presents a balanced selection of nights with only a bit of trance. But the Gatecrasher week in Ibiza does start with trancey sounds: Crasher on Mondays - full info to follow very soon. Tuesdays is all about Créche. Créche will be a really good and credible underground house music night - exactly what San Antonio needs! Then the Garlands boys are back in Ibiza and present Bed-lam on Wednesdays.

Thursdays is Speakerbox and sees Mistajam as a weekly resident. Guests include Bondax, Katy B and Tinie Tempah to name but a few. Fridays are El Carnaval - an EDM and house-heavy night with AN21, Max Vangelli, Deniz Koyu and Danny Avila as main protagonists. Saturdays Kisstory returns to San Antonio (after having been at Es Paradis last year) and Sundays is Gatecrasher presents. So far three dates have been confirmed for this one, with the focus on EDM (Afrojack and Showtek headlining), but with more dates likely to be added soon.

IBIZA ROCKS | San Antonio

The Ibiza Rocks crew have not only been busy with their 'Ibiza Rocks the snow' residency in the French alps over the winter, they've also massively planned ahead for Ibiza 2014. The most exciting news for the ever-growing Ibiza Rocks group comes in their new Monday night party Ibiza Rocks House at Pacha - read further below on this.

In their San An homebase, Ibiza Rocks Hotel, the two event series Ibiza Rocks and W.A.R. run on Wednesdays and Fridays as in the past two years. Highlights of the Rocks line up include Nas, the Kaiser Chiefs and a full live show of Rudimental, plus Ed Sheeran on their birthday party on 23rd July. The W.A.R. line ups are generally really strong this summer, from the many Example & DJ Wire dates to appearances from Gorgon City, 2manyDJs and Fatboy Slim.

Last, but not least, let's not forget about Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes and the Ibiza Rocks The Boat Parties. The boats run on Wednesdays and Fridays before the gigs at Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Pikes should be visited on Monday evenings as a warm-up before everyone then drives over to Pacha for the aforementioned new night at the cherry club or then on Wednesday and Friday nights after main gigs at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. We can also recommend Pikes' Sunday Roast; the Spotlight Clubbing team went just before the opening parties and we can honestly say it's WICKED.

OCEAN BEACH IBIZA | San Antonio

Compared to Playa d'en Bossa where Bora Bora, Sands and a lot of other beachfront venues are throwing daytime events on a daily basis over the whole summer, the choice for proper daytime parties in San Antonio is pretty limited. OK there are boat parties aplenty and the events at Ibiza Rocks Hotel and Benimussa Park also start when the sun's still up, but a lot of the holidaymakers like to party during the day on the beach...or at least around the pool. And that's where Ocean Beach Ibiza comes in. The venue had a very good summer last year and has found a formula that works perfectly well: reasonably cheap entry and a 12 noon start for their events.

Most of their parties are the same as 2013, with Hed Kandi doing their beach house pool parties on Mondays, Ibiza Sensations on Tuesdays and the acoustic 'Pull the Plug' sessions on Wednesdays. Pretty spectacular news come on Thursdays with the very entertaining spanish SuperMartXé brand coming to OBI - that will be an interesting day to say the least! Friday's the Ocean Pool Party again (one of the strongest days of the week last year), Soul Heaven hosts Saturdays and Sundays are taken over by the Ibiza Spray party and Sin Sundays.

PACHA | Ibiza Town

On a busy night, Pacha feels like Ibiza's most beautiful beehive, and with its 2014 programme, I think there will be a lot of honey made with thousands of bees. 2013 was a defining year for the cherry venue when they changed a lot of their programme. For this summer, the line up has been fine-tuned and their opening parties have all been extremely busy. The Pacha week starts with a big surprise - Ibiza Rocks House comes to Pacha. Presenting a wide range of artists, reaching from 2manyDJs to Soul Clap and Tiga and a few exclusive performances in the form of Giorgio Moroder and more artists still to be announced, this night will definitely do better than last year's Epica on Mondays. Hats off to the Ibiza Rocks team for pulling this off! Flower Power stays on Tuesdays, no changes there but why would you? It's a unique night and it works perfectly.

The second novelty for Pacha is Steve Aoki's Playhouse on Wednesdays, replacing Guy Gerber's Wisdom Of The Glove (but he's not completely gone, read on for that). Aoki is not only bringing a lot of artists to the island that have never played an Ibiza dancefloor before (Tujamo, 3 Are Legend, Carnage,...), he'll also keep the bakeries on the island busy as he's ordered plenty of cakes for every show of his residency. So don't have any dessert with your dinner, you're bound to get some for free at Pacha...

Thursday's the ever-thriving F*** Me I'm Famous night by David Guetta at Pacha. F*** me, it's still packed week in week out. But with Guetta playing every week, plus guests like Nicky Romero, Chuckie, Afrojack and Showtek, it's no wonder Pacha's rammed to the rafters Thursdays all season.

Insane is back for its second season and with a much improved line up compared to last summer. It's got a great resident roster consisting of MK, Dennis Ferrer, John Digweed and Reboot and Tensnake. Plus, Guy Gerber does four Wisdom Of The Glove takeovers with some extremely tasty line ups too. The Insane opening party on Friday 23rd May was an extremely busy one, it's a night I expect to do really well this year.

The Pacha weekend is the same as last year - Pure Pacha on Saturdays, always headlined by either Bob Sinclar or Martin Solveig plus guests, and Solomun+1 on Sundays. King Solomun's night was a secret tip last year and got some proper momentum towards to end of the season. We expect this night to continue where it stopped - looks like a really cool night this summer!

Read our Pacha preview here and our interview with Pacha's musical director Steve Hulme (from back in March) here. Let's also not forget about Lío, Pacha's dinner show venue with daily afterparties and the two hotels run by Pacha: El Hotel just next to Pacha and Destino (also read on for that)

PRIVILEGE | San Rafael

The second San Rafael superclub has sadly lost two of its prime parties, Armin Van Buuren's A State Of Trance and Elrow. But in true 'never give up' manner, the team behind beloved 'Privi' have been fighting for nights and have got them in the end. The week starts with Neon Splash on Mondays, which means the island now has two neon paint nights - do we see a trend there? On Tuesdays, the guys behind the Driftwood boat parties take over the Vista Club room and throw a weekly trance and progressive party called Sunk, featuring artists like The Thrillseekers, John 00 Fleming, Giuseppe Ottaviani etc. On Wednesdays, Madrid promoters Reverse bring their aliens to Ibiza for a techno invasion in the Vista Club with artists like Monika Kruse, Uner and Technasia. Thursdays are all about MASS BASS, a new electro, dubstep and bass-laden night.

Fridays are for SuperMartXé. Bigger than ever now, because apart from their huge theatrical shows in the main room, the SuperMartXé crew now also takes care of the Vista Club and present 'SuperMan' - a 100% gay only zone for Friday nights. On Saturday nights, Privilege continue doing a fun oriented night. It's not Elrow anymore, but The Pharm should be a pretty similar party, also going down the 'tons of toys' route.

Let's also mention the Cream BBC Radio 1 one-off here - it hasn't been officially announced yet, but it will happen again don't worry. And lastly, the DJ bootcamp of the BURN Residency 2014 also happens at Privilege, between 21st June to 4th July.

SANKEYS | Playa d'en Bossa

'First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win'. Mahatma Ghandi's quote suits Sankeys' Ibiza story perfectly. Having the balls to continue after a quite disastrous first season, slowly finding its feet in the second year, establishing the venue properly in the third summer...and in season four, Sankeys Ibiza suddenly is a venue that boasts some of the finest labels and talent of the underground house world all summer. Yeah OK, If you go to Sankeys Ibiza you might not get that same 'Ibiza feeling' as some of the mega clubs on the island ooze with their high ceilings and history-laden venues, but that's not Sankeys goal anyway. David Vincent and his crew stick to their ideology: the best underground music, a terrific soundsystem and a great crowd.

The venue just saw a very successful double opening party and the Sankeys week feels a bit more balanced this season, with more musical variation than last year. Mondays with Duke Dumont will be the least underground night (or the most mainstream one in other words). London's FUSE boys are back and on Tuesdays this year, but the most stellar night of the Sankeys week this summer will probably be Tribal Sessions on Wednesdays. Throwing a 12 hour party from 6pm to 6am every week for 20 weeks and presenting artists and DJ legends that cover almost all facets of house and techno, from DJ Sneak to Mario Basanov (Ten Walls in disguise), Danny Tenaglia and Francois K, Dave Clarke and Jeff Mills and many more, the Tribal Sessions line-ups are simply exceptional on most dates.

But we're not done yet, Amine Edge & Dance present their new night CUFF on Thursdays, covering the new 'G house' trend, and Audiofly are back with their Flying Circus residency on Fridays. Magna Carta will be doing Saturdays and Steve Lawler and his bandanna VIVa Warriors crew will be back on Sundays. Will Sundays keep being the busiest night at Sankeys? We shall see, Tribal Sessions is a strong contender there!

SPACE | Playa d'en Bossa

The world famous club has done it again - and won three awards in 2013: best global club in DJ Mag Top 100, IDMA dance music awards and Vicious Music Awards. Congrats from team Spotlight, we agree you rock. And we wish you a very happy anniversary beloved Space - 25 years this summer! There will be a massive birthday party with a big surprise, but we really can't say more than that right now - just make sure you follow our club news.

As for the weekly programme at Space, only two changes have been made for this year, Fridays and Saturdays. But let's start on Mondays - Café Olé! A really fun night at Space with some cool shows. But the first big night is Carl Cox' 'Music Is Revolution' on Tuesdays. Such a powerhouse of a night and looking at this year's line-ups, it won't get any weaker. It'll actually be Carl's longest Ibiza season ever, with 14 Tuesdays instead of the dozen in the past. Guests for Music Is Revolution include all the big shots such as Marco Carola, Luciano and Loco Dice, legends such as Danny Tenaglia and Laurent Garnier and current hot artists Mano Le Tough, Deetron, Eats Everything...the list is endless. Let's also not forget this year there are the Float Your Boat parties pre Cox (and also pre We Love) and there are some jucy rumours around regarding who's going to play those boats...

Wednesdays in Space belong to Ibiza Calling. Sitting between two huge techno nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Ibiza Calling is taking an EDM route this year, with the likes of Nicky Romero, Cazzette, Krewella, DJ BL3ND and Quintino all playing multiple dates. But the second big night of the Space week is Richie Hawtin's ENTER. Look at their line ups, I mean if you do like techno and tech house, there is simply not one single Thursday you don't want to be there this summer. With the early 10pm sets in the Sake bar (Sunset Terrace) and the techy main room (Discoteca) and the more housier terrace (Terraza) later on, team ENTER have put an artist roster together that's second to none.

As for the aforementioned news, two pretty different nights are moving to Space for the weekend: Ferry Corsten fusions his Full On project with Space's home made Clandestin night on Fridays which means Space has a trance night this year again after two seasons without that kind of sound. Another fusion happens on Saturday nights as Barcelona promoter Elrow move their hilariously funny night to Space and go into a very interesting collab with the club's own boutique night Kehakuma. To me this looks like a very decent Saturday night idea with a lot of fun with Elrow in the discoteca and some very music-savvy line-ups with Kehakuma on the Terraza.

The Space week then ends on Sunday with their third huge night of the week, We Love. Now under new management, the programming for this night has been made to cover a huge range of musical tastes and we think We Love should have a really good summer. In ther 15th summer on the island, We Love present a lot of artist taking over an entire dancefloor, curating the line ups themselves. Disclosure, Sasha and Skream all take over one of Space's floors for four dates over the summer. The list of guest DJs is impressive, reaching from Groove Armada to Breach, Visionquest, Joris Voorn, Julio Bashmore, Ame and many many more. And let's not forget about 10th August when a certain Loco Dice celebrates his birthday with a complete We Love takeover.

Lastly, and maybe you've already read it elsewhere already, Ibiza Spotlight will be hosting the lovely El Salon floor in Space on four dates this summer to celebrate 15 years online. Come party with us on Sunday 29th June, Sunday 27th July (both We Love), Tuesday 19th August (Carl Cox) and Sunday 7th September (We Love again). Line-ups and further info to follow soon!

USHUAÏA & HARD ROCK HOTEL IBIZA | Playa d'en Bossa

The Palladium hotel group has had a very busy summer 2013 - and an even busier winter now. Opening up the Ushuaïa tower just next to Ushuaïa last season and Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza this summer, it's safe to say the team behind the musical programming of all their venues has not had one boring day over the past few months. Let's start with the latest of their projects, the Hard Rock Hotel. Opening just in time for the International Music Summit, it's a stunning hotel and event venue. Events for this summer are held on Friday evenings and include live appearances from Nile Rodgers (with his band Chic), UB40, Ellie Goulding, Kylie Minogue, Placebo, Neneh Cherry and Snoop Dogg (he's playing on the Ushuaïa stage though). Not all of those names are new to Ibiza and to be honest only Placebo really tick the 'hard rock' box, but it's still nice to see more live music coming to Ibiza. I guess the HRH will simply be about live music events, not so much about hard rock as such. That said, we can still expect a few more artists to be confirmed though, so stay tuned.

The Ushuaïa club needed a few adjustments after last summer. You might think they've had an excellent season, and for most of their nights that was the case, but with Ushuaïa investing so much in their artists and production, they need to make sure the venue is very, very busy for each of their events. And Tuesdays (Luciano) and Thursdays (Loco Dice) last year unfortunately just didn't cut it. You've already read earlier that Luciano is back at Cocoon (where he belongs anyway in my humble opinion) and Dice is sort of taking a year off Ibiza (don't worry, he'll still be on the island a few times over the summer), so two slots of the weekly programme became free for this season. The programmation they've come up with is an extremely strong one.

The Ushuaïa week starts with David Guetta, no changes there. Big news for Tuesdays as they now belong to the new number one DJ Hardwell, presenting his 'I Am Hardwell' event. Wednesdays are for Departures again and the second big coup is having Armin Van Buuren at Ushuaïa this summer. Running on Thursdays, trance fans prepare for a marathon session on that day, because pretty sure you'll be looking to do both A State Of Trance and then carry on at Cream after midnight.

Friday is a night off at Ushuaïa because of the Hard Rock Hotel events next door, but ANTS then invade the club again on Saturdays. It's the only 'underground' party left at Ushuaïa so this should attract a pretty different crowd to the rest of the days. The Ushuaïa club week ends with Avicii's Sunday stint. All in all a pretty EDM-heavy week, but with the biggest names of this genre obviously.

The Ushuaïa Tower won't see any regular parties this summer. It'll work as a social meetup bar/place and sometimes the party will continue on its rooftop for a bit once the fiestas down at the club finish at midnight.

The new daytime party venues

COVA SANTA | San José

Tried and tested for Marco Carola's Music On after parties last year, team Amnesia (who own Cova Santa) are now planning to take things one step further for the beautiful outdoor and indoor venue halfway between Ibiza and San Jose. First off, Solomun's label Diynamic present their 'Diynamic Outdoor' parties at Cova Santa every Tuesday between 22nd July and 9th September. The main man Solomun himself will be present, plus label mates such as H.O.S.H., Adriatique, David August and of course guests too. Then Luciano carries his 'Origins' project out in the sunlight too, on 6 Wednesdays over the summer. Both parties kick off in the afternoon and go until midnight. Then the outside bits close and the fiesta continues inside. Expect these events to pop up on our party calendar shortly. And yeah, we also expect Don Carola to have a few cheeky afters at Cova Santa again...

DESTINO | Talamanca

Opened last year, the beautiful Pacha Destino Ibiza Resort had a few great parties in its first season and is now preparing the return for its second summer. It's not the easiest task though as Destino is located on Santa Eularia soil and compared to other areas of the island, this district is pretty strict when it comes to night time activities and parties generally. The opening party has just had to be postponed because Pacha group didn't get the licence in time. Team Pacha did the right thing though and cancelled the party beforehand for now instead of doing it anyway and then getting into real trouble. So the new opening party date has yet to be announced (mind last year's opening was at the end of June) and after that, we can expect a few pretty cool parties to happen at the venue on the cliffs of Cap Martinet north of Talamanca. We unfortunately can't reveal all the info just yet, so stay tuned. But rest assured, there will be a lot of smaller and a few pretty big celebrations again at Destino this summer!

Also in this category fall all the Playa d'en Bossa beachfront bars like Bora Bora, Sands, Santos Suites etc. Many of those throw parties on a daily basis or some really cool one-offs. Just check our forums to have an update of what's going on.

BOAT PARTIES

My oh my. What growth has this market seen over the last two years! Now a fully independent pillar of the clubbing scene, lots of brands are offering parties out at sea departing from either San Antonio or Playa d'en Bossa / Figueretas / Ibiza town. We researched the market throughly last summer and we believe we offer the best brands for this season.

Pukka Up - still the island's number one boat party with three operating days this summer, a great choice of afterparties and a lot of gimmicks too.

Float Your Boat - the new kid on the block in the boat party sector. Made by the people behind Carl Cox and We Love, it's pretty obvious where the afterparty of their boats happen eh?! Stay tuned for some exciting line-up announcements for those boats by the way

Cirque De La Nuit - Playa d'en Bossa's market leader, running their popular boat & pool parties as well as running the official Cocoon, Sankeys, Diynamic and Ibiza Sonica boats. Big!

Ibiza Rocks The Boat - Ibiza Rocks the Med - 'nuff said.

Lost In ibiza - Want an underground boat party sailing from San An? Look no further.

Pacha 67 Sailboat - The most intimate, but surely also the most unique boat party. Plus choose between three Pacha nights included after the boat.

Driftwood Ibiza - The only trance and progressive boat party on the island.

Noah's Ark - The Zoo Project's boat party. Start your animalistic Saturday even earlier and then carry on at Benimussa Park of course.

Beautiful People - Number one sailing from Figueretas and offering a day-long excursion with an all-inclusive concept, Beautiful People will soon also join the Ibiza Spotlight boat party roster.

IBIZA 2014 - A FORECAST

When I write those personal opinions at the end of our season previews and reviews I sometimes wonder what you guys must think of me. I'm always complaining ain't I? No, not really. I'm actually only complaining on a very high level. A lot of the clubbing industry on the island works really well and I am generally really positive about the season that's just kicking off now.

This is what I think are great changes and/or additions for this summer or events that I think will do particularly well:

...Luciano coming back to Amnesia. 15♥︎ for Cocoon

...Ibiza Rocks House at Pacha. What a refreshing idea!

...Tribal Sessions at Sankeys. Are you tribal?

...ENTER at Space. Party calendar checking orgasm.

...The general approach of doing more daytime events (Cova Santa, Destino, villa afterhours etc). Let's bring back the 'old' Ibiza!

...Respect for the Gatecrasher crew, let's hope things will kick off again properly in San Antonio now!

And these are things that make me go 'hmmm...let's see how that pans out'

...EDM Wednesdays (Ushuaïa, Space, Pacha) and EDM Sundays (Ushuaïa, Amnesia, Gatecrasher). Last year, we've had an oversaturation of underground house and techno nights in Ibiza, but now everyone's jumping on the EDM bandwagon. Will it work out? Or is it again too much of a certain music style? We shall see. Also, suddenly we see more trance nights coming back to the island. Is this genre really having a proper revival on Ibiza or is it rather just an attempt of the clubs to fill the gaps?

...More and more boat party companies arriving on the island and trying their luck. Guys, keep in mind you're playing Champions League here.

As every summer, there will be winners and there will be losers on the clubbing circuit on the island, but generally I am convinced we're off to a very good Ibiza 2014 season. Bookings are looking extremely well and even with all the festivals happening across Europe over the summer, the Ibiza hype is unbroken. The island keeps rejuvenating itself in terms of the musical direction (think Cuff at Sankeys for example) and it will always be THE trend setting place in the world for anything electronic music.

Lastly, and I think I'm doing this as a favour for everyone that lives here all year round, here's my call out to all the holidaymakers coming to Ibiza this summer: keep our beautiful island clean and tidy. We don't leave our litter in your parks and forests if we come visiting you, so please keep our beaches just as clean. We appreciate you're here to have a good time and probably go a bit crazy and that's totally OK (believe me, we do the same), but that doesn't mean you can't clean up after you regardless. Thanks - and have a terrific Ibiza 2014!
