Rave Knights in Sven's Service

Cocoon's 2006 line up features fresh new souls.

Once again displaying their admirable German organisational skills, Cocoon are the first party promoters to release their full line up for Ibiza 2006.

Unsurprisingly they're back at Amnesia on Monday nights, given the rip-roaring success of their recent arrangement. This year Wildlife 2 begins on June 19 with pie-eyed piper Sven Väth (below, second right), Ricardo Villalobos (below, far right), André Galluzzi and Dorian Paic.

Kiss for the new Millennium

All know the ropes well enough to tie their loyal audience up in knots by night's end. However it's the enticing new names that have caught the eye of the hyper-modern, easily bored club consumer. We guide you through some of the ones that we've entered in the calendar for the first time:

Johannes Heil (live) - June 26

pic from mtv.deWith no less a brief than to "refresh elektro", the slightly vacant-looking Heil is a prolific producer whose partners in sonic collaboration include Dj Hell and Heiko Laux. Heil's is a "new, mutant strain of oddness", apparently. Johannes is also pressing buttons at the Loft in riot-prone Barcelona on the 24th of this month.

Onur Özer - July 3

pic from onurozer.netTurkish. Into sunglasses. Counts fellow Cocoonites Tobi Neumann and the Wighnomy Brothers among his friends. Gigs extensively in Germany, Switzerland and his hometown, Istanbul. He took the time to answer an email questionairre so we like him the best.

Spotlight: How's it going? Where are you?

Onur: It's going fine, I am working very hard these days. I spend most of my time for my upcoming album which will release from Vakant. I am in Istanbul at the moment, where I live.

OnurWhat's the scene there like?

The scene in Istanbul is quite nice. Sometimes it is hard but most of time it is raving! It is really good to see that Istanbul is developing day by day about techno music.

Have you been to Ibiza before?

No, this will be the first time to play at a gig or to visit.

Have you played with Loco Dice before?

I have never been in a same gig with Locodice but i know him. I really enjoy all his releases.

Are you going to party hard in Ibiza or smoke a joint and go to the beach?

I guess I will go for both : ) In my opinion nights will be wild, days will be peaceful.

What's the most amount of beers you can drink in one night?

Actually I am not a good beer drinker. Maybe three - just for refreshment.

What's the most amount of beers you think Sven Väth can drink in one night?

Good question. When he was in Istanbul for a gig I didnt see him drinking beer so I can't guess :)

What are your favourite records at the moment?

Mathias Kaden'Pentaton Ep' (Vakant) , Sleeparchive'Radio Transmission', David KNutty Rush (Cocoon), Thomas Melchior & LucianoEp (Cadenza), and many more ...

Karotte - July 17

Dj "Carrot" (I shit you not) is described as one of the most notorious party animals in the German scene. Now we know why he's friends with Sven. Pushing 40. Our pick for Cocoon guest most likely to go AWOL.

Mathew Jonson (live) - July 31

This high season gig will be rammed. The Canadian Jonson has probably the highest profile of the new intake of 2006 due to his thrashed 'Marionette' tune and general popularity with Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier and other techno luminaries. He also killed them across the water at Sónar last year.

Apparently a visit to the Vancouver world fair in 1986 "catapulted the youngster into a world of compu-based generation and musical exploration". A nerd, then. Let's hope he gets laid.

Meat - August 21

The resident at Cocoon Frankfurt (above) has come through the ranks and now gets his chance to wow them in the Balearics. Meat recently made his first UK appearance at London warehouse kings Mulletover's 2nd birthday. Clearly he's not in kindergarten any more. If you see him ask where he got his handle, we're very curious.

Oliver Koletzki - August 28

Ollie (above left) hasn't listed his Amnesia gig as one of his upcoming tour dates on his site. Maybe the student at Berlin Humbolt is embarassed about coming to Ibiza. Hopefully Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin and the delightfully named Pig & Dan, who perform on the same night, slap some sense into him.

Matthew Dear (live) - September 11

pic from ghostly.comIt's an auspicious date for a Yank to perform, but don't expect this Texas-born techno technician to spare the fireworks. His 2003 album 'Leave Luck To Heaven' is described as "a seminal fusion of pop and minimal techno". He's an adopted son of London's Fabric who picked him to compile their most recent twisted tune compendium. Likely to bang it out near the end. Only go if you're hard.
