April in Ibiza

This year, April's good for the tourist industry in Ibiza for two reasons

This year, April's good for the tourist industry in Ibiza for two reasons; Ryanair have started flights from several UK airports and the number of Brits strolling about enjoying the fantastic weather we've had so far is ever growing. Secondly, Easter falls very late in the month which encourages more hotel owners to open as bookings continue through to the May 1st official start to the season. Around 15,000 hotel places will be open for Easter – about 20% of the island's total.

So what can we expect in April? Our news section has already featured Ibiza town's Food Week with great restaurant deals and a two day tapa tasting. Wine buffs will like the Viniterraneus wine tasting day on the 29th April at Ibiza town's Recinto Ferial exhibition hall where hundreds of wines will be on show.

Obviously the main attractions on the island are the Easter processions in Ibiza town and Santa Eulalia which are a very moving sight, even if religion and/or Christianity doesn't play a part in your life. Coincidentally this year, the 'village' of San Jorge celebrates St. George's day (23rd April) during Easter with a book fair, lots of red roses and music, food and drink aplenty.

Sports fans are catered for with the big mountain bike trek which is based in San Antonio but covers the whole island. Also in San Antonio the 'Ruta de la Sal' yacht regatta arrives with hundreds of yachts and their crews form Denia and Barcelona to fill the harbour (and bars and restaurants) with Henri Lloyd clad nautical coves.

Aside from this, there's lots of live entertainment in various bars, restaurants and cafes all over the island – just take a look at our events calendar to see what's happening, when and where.

Happy Easter everybody.
