Fireworks, dinner, Ibiza - it's Saint Ciriac's Day 2019

Add Ibizan sparks to your life on 8 August.

As is tradition, Saint Ciriac, Ibiza's patron saint is honoured this coming Thursday 8 August 2019 with the annual firework display, an occasion that brings together islanders and international visitors alike.

Like every year, throngs of people are expected to gather in Ibiza Town's port area to celebrate the end of the Fiesta La Tierra - an important local festival.

Whilst you can view the explosive action from the town centre, port and shoreline, you can also see the spectacle from the sea, with a superb boat trip offered by Aquabus, along with cava or white wine to toast the display.

Departure times are as follows: 23:00 from Playa d'en Bossa pier, 23:15 from Figueretas dock and 23:30 from Ibiza's port. Tickets can be purchased as you board and cost €25 for adults, €15 for children aged four to 12, with those aged three and under free.

As well as this, several restaurants are offering special celebratory menus and offer great firework viewpoints.

These include Nobu STK Ibiza, Corso Restaurant, A Son de Mar, Nobu Ibiza Bay and the restaurant at Mikasa Boutique Hotel Ibiza. More details on each below.

Other activities of note during the programme, include a giant paella - large enough for 900 diners, a photography exhibition featuring the work of Guillermo Monforte and the "Gold Medal of Ibiza Town" ceremony.

Plaza Reina Sofia will play host to various musical performances over this period. You can find the City Choir of Ibiza (2 August), Carlos Baute performing De amor y dolor (5 August), Ibiza Town's Symphony Band (6 August) and Concert of Ressonadors (7 August). The festivities culminate with the annual firework display.

Nobu Ibiza Bay

In the beautiful bay of Talamanca is where you'll find the incomparable Nobu restaurant, within the hotel of the same name - a cool and unpretentious venue that's the last word in gorgeous minimalism and right beside the beach.

Its Japanese fusion food has achieved fame on an international level and for the San Ciriac fireworks, there's a special "OmaSake" menu: four excellent courses paired with sake wine for just €100 per person.

Watch the display from the beach deck, enjoy live entertainment in the pool bar and make a fantastic night of it.


STK Ibiza

Some of the best views of the fireworks are going to be from Marina Botafoch, and in particular the luxurious terrace at STK Ibiza. Here's a great spot to unwind and enjoy a shisha pipe or imported cigar.

Anybody who's expecting to hear rumbles from their stomach can take advantage of the restaurant's reasonably priced lounge menu.

Choose from three types of oyster sharing platters, lobster and pork belly tacos, the self-styled lil brg, chickpea falafel and sides. Better yet, order a selection.


Mikasa

Boutique hotel, Mikasa Boutique Hotel Ibiza, occupies a gorgeous spot around the bay of Talamanca. During the day, it's suntrap terrace offers great views of the harbour and Dalt Vila, but on Thursday 8 August it becomes the ideal vantage point for the fireworks.

Always going above and beyond the call of duty for its customers, Mikasa is offering specially-honed vegetarian and non-vegetarian set menus for the evening.

The veggie choice starts with a Lebanese tasting mezze, followed by a meat-free lasagne with halloumi cheese as the main. This is accompanied by a side of stewed seitan and plums, before ending on orange and triple sec sorbet.

The regular option starts the same, followed by a scallop gratin with basil cream then red tuna takati served with fennel and mint leaves. Still, there's more: marinated skewers of succulent angus beef, before ending on an assortment of traditional Lebanese desserts.

Price: €65.00/pax. Drinks are not included.


Corso restaurant

Neighbouring Corso Restaurant are also getting in on the firework action at its on site restaurant, with its own set menu. The plush modern residence is sleek, stylish and takes pride in attentive customer service.

The set menu begins with an anchovy and blue cheese salad with walnut vinaigrette. From the mains you can choose from spinach cannelloni, sea bass with clams or lamb carrot with mustard crust. The menu ends on coconut cheesecake and dates.

Price: €75.00/pax. Price includes refills of water, soft drinks, house white and red wine and Arabic coffee. Other drinks excluded.


A Son de Mar

Should you be looking for authentic Mediterranean food, then you should stop to look at A Son de Mar. The waterfront restaurant does exactly that, and with gorgeous views across the harbour to Dalt Vila, it's another great vantage point.

Get into the celebratory spirit, with a complimentary glass of champagne on arrival. Appetizers come in the forms of oysters, swiftly followed by a choice of lobster and avocado or cold Iberian meats - each in portions to share.

For the main course, choose between black Angus sirloin with roast potatoes and red wine reduction or sea bass and seasonal vegetables. Finish the meal with an assortment of homemade desserts and a complimentary coffee.

Price: €60/pax. Apart from those specified, drinks are not included.
